CCPA changed on Jan. 1, 2023. CPRA is the new law in CA!

In 2018, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) established a set of consumer privacy rights and business obligations relating to the collection and sale of personal information. Shortly after its implementation, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) was approved by California voters, amending the CCPA. As the first comprehensive consumer privacy laws in the U.S., the CCPA and CPRA have set a standard for how businesses approach privacy and data security. To help you navigate these changes, we have compiled answers to frequently asked questions about enforcement, consumer rights, and compliance requirements. The CCPA, signed into law in 2018, provides consumer privacy rights and business obligations related to the collection and sale of personal information, and took effect on January 1, 2020. The California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), also known as Proposition 24, significantly amends and expands the CCPA, and is sometimes referred to as “CCPA 2.0.” It was approved by California voters on November 3, 2020 and took effect on January 1, 2023.
